A Post-Election Message to our Members & Friends

The 2016 election season was both incredibly exciting, and obviously also highly polarizing. Even within our own party and Log Cabin, there has been a variance of opinions. Differing views should always be respected, and regardless of who you were rooting for this election, it is time for all of us to come together, and continue fighting for the issues that matter to us.

However, the bullying and threats we are starting to see expressed on social media and elsewhere by the Left towards many of our members and others who did support President-Elect Trump, needs to stop. Taking time to mourn a loss is understandable, but if President Obama and President-Elect Trump can shake hands earlier this week, and vow to work together, then the Left and the Right within the LGBT community should be able to do the same.

For those concerned about how LGBT liberties might be affected in a Trump Presidency, we would just like to point out the following statements and actions by Trump regarding our community.

lcr-oct-2016-mixer-v1-alt.jpg

We're back at the Fiesta Cantina rooftop in West Hollywood this month for our Log Cabin mixer before the November elections.

Our featured speaker this month is Juan Hernandez - a member of Log Cabin Republicans in Silicon Valley and a plaintiff in a lawsuit against San Jose city officials for their failure to protect Trump rally participants.

If you think the verbal attacks on Trump have been brutal - the PHYSICAL attacks on his supporters have been worse!

On Thursday, June 2, 2016, America watched in horror as a San Jose political rally turned violent. Some supporters of Donald Trump were viciously attacked by intolerant progressives and thugs. According to police, they were instructed to...READ MORE

What a Difference Two Weeks Makes!

Looking back since my first involvement with Log Cabin Republicans, I can’t think of a more monumental two weeks than what the last 14 days have been like. I am so proud of what we have achieved in light of the challenges that face our Party, our community and our country.

juan-attacked-300w.jpgTwo weeks ago, we learned that one of our own Log Cabin members in the Bay Area was savagely attacked by anti-Donald Trump protestors at a San Jose rally. We got in contact with Juan Hernandez and heard his story as well as uncovered the shameless partisan pandering of San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo. When we found out he ordered his police force to stand down while innocent protesters were being beat-up by fascist thugs in front of their very eyes, we knew we had to act!

justice-for-juan-pc-300w.jpg

With just a 48-hour notice, we built a coalition, scheduled a press conference and caravanned to San Jose. We publicly called out the Mayor and Police Chief for their negligence that resulted in civil liberties being violated. Their actions allowed and condoned innocent citizens coming under assault for simply exercising their First Amendment rights.

The result? National and local news coverage helped Juan tell his story. He was also interviewed by Megan Kelly on FOX News and was featured in a piece on Bill O’Reilly. Our national president Gregory T. Angelo even lent support and flew in at the last minute to join local and state Log Cabin leadership in an inspiring team effort.
